Inventory
Inventory Targeting controls the supply sources, Deals, Sites, and Apps where a Campaign or Line is eligible to serve.
Inventory targeting can be applied at the Campaign or Line level. Campaign-level Inventory Targeting should be used only when the selected inventory requirements apply to every Line within the Campaign.
Available Inventory Targeting includes:
Inventory Type
Inventory Type controls the environment where the Line can serve:
- Web
- In App
- Combined
Web inventory represents requests associated with websites in a browser, while In App inventory represents requests from applications such as mobile or Connected TV Apps.
Supply Source
Campaigns and Lines can use inventory from:
- Open Exchange
- Private Marketplace (PMP) Deals
- Programmatic Guaranteed (PG) Deals
See the Inventory documentation for information about Deals, Exchange eligibility, available inventory, and Deal targeting.
Deals
Use Deals to target individual Deals available to the Seat. Select the applicable Deals to include them in the Campaign or Line targeting configuration.
When Deals are targeted at both the Campaign and Line levels, ensure the selected Deals are aligned. Campaign and Line requirements are evaluated together.
See the Inventory documentation for Deal discovery, access, and additional Deal information.
Deal Lists
Use Deal Lists to apply a reusable group of Deals to a Campaign or Line.
Deal Lists are created and managed under Inventory > Deal Lists and can then be selected within Targeting.
Exchanges
Use Exchanges to control the supply-side platforms through which the Campaign or Line is eligible to purchase inventory.
When using Deals, make sure the selected Exchanges align with the Exchanges associated with the targeted Deals.
Sites
Use Sites to directly allow or block individual website domains without creating a reusable Site List.
Enter the applicable domain values and configure them as an Allow List or Block List.
Site List
Use Site Lists to apply a reusable group of website domains.
Site Lists are created and managed under Inventory > Site Lists and can then be applied as an Allow List or Block List within Targeting.
See the Site Lists documentation for setup details.
App Bundle
Use App Bundle to allow or block inventory based on the App Bundle identifier provided in the bid request.
Because the same App may use different identifiers across devices or operating systems, confirm that the targeted App Bundle values align with the applicable inventory.
App Name
Use App Name to allow or block inventory based on the App Name provided in the bid request.
App naming can vary by publisher or inventory source, so review available inventory or reporting data before applying restrictive App Name targeting.
App List
App Lists can be used to allow or block specific Apps using App Bundle IDs.
Create and manage reusable App Lists under Inventory > App Lists, then apply the applicable list at the Campaign or Line level.
See the App Lists documentation for setup details.
Curation — Line Level Only
Curation is available under Inventory at the Line level only and is not available in Campaign Targeting.
Curation allows supported Line targeting criteria to be used to create a curated Deal through an external curation partner.
Because the curated Deal is based on the Line configuration, make sure the Line’s inventory, geographic, Audience, and other applicable targeting criteria are aligned.
CTV Content Targeting
For CTV inventory, Pontiac supports Allow List and Block List targeting using content and publisher metadata provided in the bid request.
Available fields include:
- Publisher
- Network
- Channel
- Series
- Title
- Genre
- Multi Field
Multi Field: Multi Field can be used when the same value may appear across different supported content fields. For example, a media brand may sometimes be provided as Publisher, Network, or Channel. Multi Field allows the value to be targeted without requiring the user to know which supported field will contain it for every request.
Matching Content Values: Values entered in individual content targeting fields must match the corresponding value provided in the bid request, excluding capitalization. Differences in spaces, underscores, naming conventions, or the field used by a publisher may prevent an Allow List value from matching an Impression. Because content metadata can vary by publisher, SSP, and inventory source, use Pontiac’s inventory research tools and reporting data to review the values available before applying restrictive content targeting.
