Content

Content Targeting uses publisher and content metadata provided in the bid request to control where a Campaign or Line is eligible to serve.

Available fields include:

  • Channel
  • Content ID
  • Genre
  • Network
  • Publisher
  • Series
  • Title
  • Multi Field

Where supported, content fields can be configured using an Allow List or Block List.

Channel

Use Channel to target or exclude inventory based on the Channel value provided in the bid request.

Content ID

Use Content ID to target or exclude inventory based on the Content ID provided in the bid request.

Genre

Use Genre to target or exclude inventory based on the Genre metadata provided in the bid request.

Network

Use Network to target or exclude inventory based on the Network value provided in the bid request.

Publisher

Use Publisher to target or exclude inventory based on the Publisher value provided in the bid request.

Series

Use Series to target or exclude inventory based on the Series metadata provided in the bid request.

Title

Use Title to target or exclude inventory based on the Title metadata provided in the bid request.

Multi Field

Multi Field can be used when the same value may appear across different supported content fields.

For example, a media brand may sometimes be provided as Publisher, Network, or Channel. Multi Field allows the value to be targeted without requiring the user to know which supported field will contain it for every request.

Matching Content Values

Values entered in individual content targeting fields must align with the corresponding values provided in the bid request, excluding capitalization.

Differences in spaces, underscores, naming conventions, or the field used by a publisher may prevent an Allow List value from matching an Impression.

Because content metadata can vary by publisher, SSP, and inventory source, use Pontiac’s inventory research tools and reporting data to review available values before applying restrictive content targeting.
