Overview
Custom Reporting allows users to build downloadable reports using selected Advertisers, Campaigns, Lines, Dimensions, Metrics, and a Reporting Interval.
Unlike Standard Reporting, Custom Reporting allows users to choose the specific fields included in the output, making it useful for deeper analysis, custom data exports, conversion reporting, log-level data, and reach/frequency analysis.
Custom Reports can be generated on demand or scheduled for automatic delivery where supported.
Custom Report Types
Available report types include:
- Custom Report: Build a performance report using selected Dimensions and Metrics.
- IP Conversion Pixel: Path to Conversion: Analyze the Impression activity associated with IP-based conversions.
- Cookie: Path to Conversion: Analyze the Impression activity associated with Cookie-based conversions.
- IP Conversion Pixel: Page Visits: Review visits recorded by an IP Conversion Pixel.
- IP Conversion Pixel: Conversion Rate: Compare Impressions and conversions to evaluate conversion performance.
- Log Level Report: Export detailed Impression-level and bid request data for purchased inventory.
- Reach/Frequency Report: Review unique reach across supported identifiers and estimate frequency.
Report Limitations
Custom Reports are subject to a maximum number of returnable rows: 10,000,000 rows, depending on the delivery method and report type selected. If a report exceeds the supported limit, a warning will appear indicating that the results are incomplete.
If a report exceeds the limit:
- Reduce the Reporting Interval.
- Select fewer Dimensions.
- Split the data into multiple reports.
- Contact your Account Manager for additional assistance.
Custom Reporting Time Zone
The Time Zone selected on the Custom Report determines how report activity is grouped by Date and Hour.
Available options may include Seat Time Zone, User Time Zone, UTC, and other supported time zones.
- UTC: Use UTC when reconciling report totals with Pontiac billing, as billing activity is calculated in UTC.
- Seat Time Zone: Groups report activity according to the Seat Time Zone configured under Admin > Seat Settings > Preferences.
- User Time Zone: Uses the user time zone offset passed in the bid request to assign each Impression to the local time where it was served. If the user time zone offset is unavailable, the Impression defaults to UTC.
The selected Time Zone affects how Date and Hour values are represented in the report.
Scheduled Report Time Zone & Delivery
Scheduled Reports allow users to configure the Delivery Time and Time Zone used for each scheduled delivery.
When creating or editing a Scheduled Report, these settings appear below the Reporting Interval:
- Delivery Time: Select the time the scheduled report should be generated and delivered.
- Time Zone: Select the time zone used to define both the reporting period and delivery time.
The selected Time Zone determines the start and end of the reporting day or month so the report contains the complete reporting period for that time zone before it is generated and delivered.
The Scheduled Report Time Zone defaults to UTC. User Time Zone is not available in the Scheduled Report Time Zone dropdown. Instead, select the specific time zone that best aligns with the Campaigns included in the report.
For example, if a report is configured to deliver at 1:00 AM Pacific Time, the report will include the complete prior Pacific calendar day through 11:59 PM PT before it is generated and delivered.
Seat Time Zone
The Seat Time Zone can be configured under Admin > Seat Settings > Preferences.
This setting affects metrics displayed in the Advertiser views, as well as applicable reporting views.
The Seat Time Zone does not control:
- Billing activity: Account balance activity and billing transactions are calculated in UTC.
- Campaign and Line pacing: Pacing and Dayparts use the time zone configured for the applicable Campaign in the Setup section.
All account balance activity is displayed and billed in UTC.
Report Status
When a report fails or returns incomplete results, hover over the Status to view additional information about the issue.
Common status messages include:
- Report exceeds maximum rows: The report exceeds the maximum returnable number of rows and contains incomplete results. Reduce the Reporting Interval or use more restrictive parameters.
- Report failed to process: Contact your Account Manager or reach out through the Help Center for assistance.
- Report timeframe too large: Reduce the Reporting Interval and run the report again.
